Enhancing Google’s desktop search
I tried Google’s desktop search utility for a couple weeks, then uninstalled it. I could seach within specific folders or do a lot of the other customization I can do with X1. I should have figured that if Google wouldn’t enhance its search utility, somebody else would. According to Danny Sullivan of Search Engine Watch, a piece of donationware software called gdSuite has been introduced to let you use Google Desktop to search by date, within specified folders, and using other criteria. I’m sticking with X1, but those of you using the Google tool may want to give it a try.
