A long 12 hours

Shel HoltzI subscribed to Google Analytics on Monday morning around 7 a.m. The site told me, “Analytics has been successfully installed and data is being gathered now. Your first reports will be ready within twelve hours.” It’s now Tuesday at 2:20 p.m. The site says, “Analytics has been successfully installed and data is being gathered now. Your first reports will be ready within twelve hours.” Man, that’s a long 12 hours. The application, even in beta, was clearly not ready for public release. If Microsoft had done this, there would be hellfire spewing throughout the blogosphere, but Google just doesn’t seem to inspire the same kind of reaction, even when they deserve it.

UPDATE—It took more like 48 hours, but the Analytics are finally working. Since Google lanched its public database today, it’s a good thing they don’t have their hands full getting Analytics working.

  • 4.I subscribed on Tuesday and came back today (Wednesday), probably about 21 hours later. Everything was a go.

Maybe there were some bugs in the very early going?

  • 5.For several reasons, I've not installed Google Analytics, Google's new tool for the blogging-for-benjamins crowd. I've been neck-deep in projects, for one, and I thought I would watch and see if the program blew up Shel Holtz's rig. And, frankly,
