August just goes on and on

August can seem like a long month, but this year it seems to just keep going on and on forever. You thought it was September? So did I, but at Feedster, August hasn’t ended yet, nearly 20 days after it was supposed to.

Early last month, Feedster introduced its top 500 blogs with this:

Each month, Feedster brings you a list of 500 of the most interesting and important blogs. Enjoy browsing to see what people are reading, to find feeds that will bring topics of interest to you on a regular basis, and to discover new voices in the Blogosphere.

In only its second month, Feedster seems to have abandoned the concept since the August list is still lingering on the site and the September list is nowhere to be seen. Sure, they may want to tally all the numbers from September before producing a list, but that’s not the way they handled the August Top 500. To make matters worse, there’s not a word to be found on Feedster’s site explaning the delay.

  • 1.Feedster doesn't bring you the 500 most important blogs. It brings you the 500 blogs that are important to the 1000 or 2000 earliest active bloggers who are still blogging.

When I looked through the Feedster 500 -- esp starting around 100 and 150 -- I realized the Feedster 500 needs a lot... a lot... of silt settling.

I think it's best they give it a rest.
