Ad agency BBH opens offices in Second Life

Not too long ago, I was getting burned out by reports from bloggers about businesses that had started blogging. “Acme is blogging!” screamed the headlines. “So what?” I screamed back. Enough businesses had figured out blogging that noting every new entrant was getting boring and redundant.

Pretty soon, that’s going to be the case with businesses establishing presences in Second Life. But for now—with skepticism about SL as rampant as it was toward blogging a few years back and the web circa 1996—it’s still worth pointing out items like the fact that advertising agency BBH is opening offices in the virtual 3D world.

According to a BBH press release, “The BBH office will be a functioning office, with client meetings and new business presentations. Departments have planned activities across the building. The agency will be holding seminars with speakers from the agency. More broadly, BBH will be hosting forums with Second Lifers to discuss challenges and involve these digital advocates in new business problems. Avatars of BBH???s receptionists will be manning the front desk.” I haven’t been able to track down the press release, but I read about it here.

BBH counts Levis,  Johnny Walker, and Sony Ericcson among its clients.

While we’re at it, C|Net has also set up a presence in SL.
