Today’s the day: Bum rush the charts now
I know there are cynics among you, but for those who believe we can make a difference, today’s the day to pay ninety-nine cents for “Mine Again” by Black Lab over at the Apple iTunes store.
The idea is for podcasters to spread the word that leads to a song by an indie band (without an RIAA contract) to soar to the top of the charts. It raises the profile of both podcasting as a movement—not just a delivery channel—of indie music, and of the growing irrelevance of the jack-botted, goose-stepping record labels.
You don’t have to like the song, just support the cause. However, “Mine Again” is cranking out of my laptop speakers right now, and, well, it just doesn’t suck.
Easiest way to weigh in is on this special page at the Financial Aid Podcast site.
