Conference Board podcasts are up

In addition to participating on one of the panels at the Conference Board’s recent Communication and Technology conference, I wandered the conference area with my Marantz PMD 660 digital recorder and a condenser microphone, grabbing people for quick interviews. In all, I snagged four speakers after their talks, along with several participants whom I asked for their biggest “ah ha” moment or most significant learning from the conference. These are all available as podcasts from the conference site, both for download or subscription. (I’d go for the download, since the conference is over and there won’t be any more files added to the mix.) I also recorded Dan Gillmor’s luncheon keynote speech; that file is also available on the site.

These files join the half-hour interview conference coordinator Lee Hornick conducted with me and two other speakers several weeks in advance of the conference. The idea behind the podcasts was initially to entice people to attend, and then to give those who opted not to come to the conference a taste of what they missed so they’ll be more inclined to come next year. These aren’t just teases, though. I’m hopeful listeners will find good information and substance in each of the interviews.

I’m interested in your reaction, both to these files specifically and more generally to the idea of podcasting snippets of a conference this way. Podcast link:

  • 1.Thanks, Shel, for recording these. I really enjoyed them. They were short, to the point...I got a feel for what the event was like. And I picked up some information from your discussion with the gentleman from Towers Perrin that could be helpful in a project I'm working on. I encourage you to do more of these when you attend conferences...heck, everyone should. And then put them in your FIR feed so all your subscribers (like me) can get them easily. Thanks again.

  • 2.Thanks, Jeff. I couldn't put these in my FIR feed, unfortunately, because I was doing this for The Conference Board. However, I can always point to these from FIR.
