Off to Brazil

I have a stack of items I’ve been wanting to blog, but I ran out of time before I had to head to the airport for a trip to Brazil. I won’t have much time to enjoy any sightseeing. I arrive in Sao Paolo tomorrow (Wednesday) morning around 8 a.m., check into the hotel, then meet a journalist for an interview about blogging at 3:30. Then it’s off to dinner at the home of the president of ABERJE, the Brazilian communications association. I get up the next morning, present at ABERJE’s conference, then head back to the airport for a flight to Rio de Janiero. I go to the hotel in time to hit the sack, get up, do a half-day workshop for communicators at Petrobras, then get ready to fly back home, arriving Saturday morning.

I’m looking forward to meeting Brazilian communicators, but I wish I had more time (and I wish my wife could have come with me). Honestly, a hotel meeting room in Rio is pretty much like one in Bakersfield, California. Such is the life of the business traveler.

I’m at DFW right now and my flight is delayed an hour. Who knows; maybe I’ll be able to knock out a post after I check email. If I were you, though, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Now, today I went to an expo for Conference hotels, attractions and event bureaus in Denmark, and it struck my how huge the variety of venues are for conferences, meetings and events in Denmark (and maybe on other countries?) - In this country you can go to the National Aquarium, Art Museums, National Museum, Castles, Historic places, you name it, and they will set up everything for you. And you will never see the same thick carpets and the upholstered chairs it seems most hotels have bought up for their uninspiring surroundings.

No wonder people use Gotomeeting and webinars these days, cause "all places" look the same.

  • 2.I can think of worse places to have a meeting! Hope you got a chance to check out some of Brazil's beaches - Ipanema's awesome!
