  • 1.Late to listening and commenting, and I was not a recipient of the e-mail pitch Gary made, but I was struck by how disingenuous Gary seemed.

I admit to a bias against people who aggressively and incessantly interrupt and talk more than listen, but he seemed to be trying way too hard to convince us all that his transgression should be forgiven because it came from such "a good place," that intent excuses all. And no matter, what he said about really wanting and valuing John's advise on how he should accomplish what he wanted to accomplish in the future, he would not give up on the notion that despite it all, that was really the right thing to do. Almost in the same breath he was saying "John was absolutely right to call me on the carpet, I agree one hundred billion percent" and "But it worked, and it came from a good place, so it was right and I'll do it again."

The only thing he seemed to genuinely cop to was that he shouldn't have promised traffic.

I happen to agree with John. In my view, Gary was cutting corners in his haste to do more business and, instead of taking the time to get to know and personalize pitches to the top 100 blogs, he went knowingly with a shotgun blast to 500 he didn't know.

Just my two cents, thrown in late.
