Intel bundles social media tools
Whenever I give a talk on the whole social media thing, one of the questions that invariably arises is, “What software will we need and how will I be able to convince IT to get it and install it?”
The answer to that question may have gotten a lot easier with Intel‘s launch of Suite 2.0, an interesting bundling of several popular social media tools. According to the press release, Intel Capital Investments is behind the effort, which brings together into a single enterprise package the ability to blog, create and manage wikis, and build and subscribe to RSS feeds. Partners include Six Apart (blogging), SocialText (wikis), NewsGator (RSS reading), SimpleFeed (RSS feed creation) and SpikeSource (which created the integration platform for the services listed above).
Under Suite 2.0, these standalone products and services will be integrated into a single, well, suite. According to the press release:
SuiteTwo is a foundation for communication that drives internal collaboration and external, high-engagement marketing. It includes advanced Web applications that incorporate blogging, RSS, search and Wiki capabilities into a single, fully integrated suite that operates on PC-based hardware. All services are integrated with a single sign-on and rich user interface.
Plans are already underway for the next iteration of Suite 2.0 (Suite 2.1?), which will include a podcasting module.
