Blogging about innovation
If you have a spare $1,895 sitting around, you might want to consider spending November 30 and December 1 in New York at Fortune magazine’s Innovation Forum. The speaker lineup is impressive, with the likes of Intuit’s Scott Cook, Starbucks’ Kenneth Lombard, McKinsey’s John Hagel, EA’s Bing Gordon, and Spaceship One developer Burt Rutan, among a host of others.
Fortune has taken an interesting approach to promoting the conference. In addition to all the usual conference marketing, the magazine has launched an Innovation Blog. “Inspired by the exciting lineup of speakers and discussion topics for this event, this weblog will showcase interesting interviews, case studies and commentary on the theme of ‘business innovation,’” the blog explains. Corante blogger Dominic Basulto edits the blog, which has featured contributions from (among many others) Elizabeth Albrycht, Yvonne DiVita, Douglas Rushkoff, and yours truly.
In fact, I was invited to attend and blog the conference (I had to decline because of a prior commitment); I understand several bloggers are on the invitation list. Fortune certainly seems to grasp the integration of traditional conference management and new media.
