Blog tag, I’m it
I’ve been tagged. Lionel Menchaca from Dell (who coordinates the Direct2Dell blog) has made me one of the five bloggers he has tagged to participate in this game of blog tag that’s been making its way through the blogosphere.
In case you missed it, this all began when Jeff Pulver listed five things people didn’t know about him, then tagged five other bloggers to do the same. Hundreds of posts have appeared since then revealing aspects of bloggers’ secret lives.
So here are my five:
- I love Mexican food. I don’t mean it’s my favorite ethnic food or that I like it a lot. I could eat it three meals a day, 365 days a year. e coli? That wouldn’t stop me from devouring a Taco Bell burrito with green sauce, extra cheese, and extra onions. There is no bigger culinary treat for me than a visit to Los Angeles and some of the best Mexican eateries in the country, like El Chollo and El Coyote. I’m getting hungry just blogging about it.
- I’m obsessed with Colonial America and the American Revolution. I read everything I can get my hands on, often to the exclusion of fiction, current events, and other worthwhile books. I’m reading Ron Chernow’s “Alexander Hamilton” right now, and I keep eyeing “Mayflower,” which will undoubtedly be my next read.
- I can’t think of anything I’d rather do to relax than take a cruise. The first time I went on a cruise, I expected to absolutely hate it, but I wound up feeling more relaxed than I can recall being at any time in my life. And at-sea days are the best. You can have your ports-of-call and excursions. Just plant me in a deck chair so I can watch the ocean glide by and my cares just fall off me.
- I live and die with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Interestingly, the last time the Dodgers won a World Series, my wife was pregnant with our daughter, who is now 17. (We were actually at Dodger Stadium when Kirk Gibson hit that line-drive home run off of Dennis Eckersly to win the first game and set the tone for the rest of the Series). And the last World Series they won before that, in 1981, my wife was pregnant with our son, who is now 25. Since we’re not having any more kids, the Dodgers are gonna have to do it on their own from here on out.
- I am an Eagle Scout. That’s right—not “I was an Eagle Scout,” but I am, because once you attain that rank, you keep it forever. I even carry the card in my wallet.
Now, to pass the tag along to five others:
Steve Crescenzo
Ron Shewchuk
BL Ochman
Gerald Baron
Constantin Basturea
The challenge here, of course, is for everyone to check Technorati’s tags for their own names to see if they’ve been tagged. Based on the number of people listed as having been tagged who haven’t responded, I suspect not everybody’s doing this!
My favorite item listed so far comes from Robert Scoble, whose number-one item was: “I hate playing blog tag games.”
