Bloggers blogging about blogs

In his latest post, “Catching Up,” Pete Shinbach explains how the myriad blog posts he caught up on after returning from an overseas vacation turned out to be mostly about blogs.  He found “lots of references to something Frank Barnako wrote on CBS.MarketWatch.com about bloggers being the only folks who read blogs.” Then, he “quickly skimmed the 30 or so blogs that had accumulated lots and lots of postings in the last eight or nine days. Most of them were about blogging. I guess Barnako had a point.”

Certainly among PR bloggers, the medium is the message.

  • 1.Interesting point, yet the more people who are blogging, the more people there are reading blogs. It's like saying that the only people who read AIM away messages are people who instant message. While this is true, the number of people using AIM is definitely increasing to where it is almost a legitimate forum in which to communicate, rather than a way for teenagers to occupy themselves.

  • 2.True, Erica. And IM IS a valid communication channel. But the people who are IMing one another aren't IMing about IM. They're talking about work, school, social activities, sports, politics -- but not about IM. Which is the point we're making here -- that all the conversation on PR blogs is about blogs instead of other PR topics.
