Bloggers beware: International libel suits apply to the Web
Jim Horton points to an OJR piece about the alarming increase in international libel lawsuits. For example, “A February court ruling in Ontario suggested that the Washington Post could be sued in virtually any court anywhere under the laws that apply in that jurisdiction for an allegedly defamatory story published online.” Horton notes the article “should be obligatory reading for every blogger who thinks he or she can say whatever comes to mind.”
