Shel Holtz is a podcasting pioneer.

On January 3, 2005—when only about 400 podcasts were available and most people had not yet heard of it—Shel Holtz and his colleague Neville Hobson launched the first communication-themed podcast, For Immediate Release: The Hobson and Holtz Report. That show spawned several related podcasts from Holtz and Hobson, including FIR Interviews and FIR Book Reviews. Other communicators intent on podcasting about their communication interests approached the pair, Shel and Neville expanded their offering into a full-blown podcast network, the FIR Podcast Network. After more than a decade and 824 episodes of the Hobson and Holtz Report (not to mention book reviews and interviews), Neville departed and Shel introduced a new format for the For Immediate Release podcast, which he continues to produce weekly.

In the process, Shel wrote a book for McGraw-Hill, How to Do Everything with Podcasting, based on everything he had learned, from planning a show to recording and producing to promotion. Shel has worked with several companies on their own podcasts and can help your organization develop and maintain a podcast that takes advantage of the growing public interest in the medium. He can help your organization with both internal podcasts for employees or external productions targeting specific audiences or niche stakeholder groups.
