Shel HoltzThe Motrin incident (USA Today article)  that unfolded over the weekend reinforces a fundamental dimension of the entire social media phenomenon: If people care enough about something, they’ll make the time to engage in the communities and conversations where people are talking about it.

This is nothing unique to social media. A typical person, in addition to the hours he or she devotes…

Shel HoltzTomorrow at 11:30 EST, I’m presenting a 90-minute online workshop. This is for a marketing-focused group called “What’s Working Now.” I’d never heard of them before they contacted me about putting on a session for their customers, but it was an opportunity to spread the social media gospel a bit further and reach some folks to whom I’ve never spoken before.

You don’t see much reporting on those instances where social media provides a platform for allowing the…

The business adoption of podcasting continues apace. In particular, I find a lot of small businesses producing podcasts. I was delighted to find that the owner of the house I live in has produces a podcast, both audio and video, addressing tax credit issues (he’s a CPA). The podcast is called “Tax Credit Tuesday.”

Podcasting’s allure for small businesses is simple to understand, given the…
