Warning: Long post follows

If a blogger posts to the blogosphere and nobody responds, does it make a sound?

IABC (the International Association of Business Communicators) has been taking something of a beating lately over its recently-published strategic plan.

Or not.

While Ragan Communications’ David Murray has been sharply critical of the plan, it hasn’t generated more than a ripple anywhere else. Richard Becker, ABC, of…

It’s been over a year since I bragged about taking the top spot among all speakers at the 2006 IABC conference. Alas, there shall be no repeat this year. I came in at number two among 70 speakers for my talk on “Edge Content and the Wisdom of Crowds.” I understand that top honors went to one of the post-conference speakers (who had 3-1/2…

Podcast…

There was unquestionably some superior work well deserving of recognition. I was surprised, though, by the presence of only one blogging winner (an internal program from Coca-Cola) and no awards for podcasts, blogger outreach programs, or…

An opening keynote is a tough gig. It’s supposed to set the tone for the conference that follows, entertain more than educate, draw attendees who might be on the fence and get people buzzing after the session is over. Tom Sancton filled the bill nicely, providing one of the very best IABC opening keynotes since Maya Angelou took the stage back in…
