  • 1.I really enjoyed this podcast and found the conversation with Wiley valuable. One observation I would make (having listened to this podcast, read your post on Sally Falkow, and your other post on Jason Kottke's decision to go full-time blogging) is that your statement of the value proposition of interaction is very oriented toward large corporations or small (Bigha for example) that are managing an image that is already out there.

Many small to medium companies though are facing the real challenge of getting any internet visibility at all. Further, they are tight on resources and are concerned about the costs of interaction (negative comments, SPAM, staff time as you note yourself recently). Hence, the focus by people in that space (such as myself) on spreading the word through blogs with limited interaction (to the point of turning off comments).

I do believe there is a substantial value to interaction for small to medium businesses not in crisis. Specifically, it relates to ongoing market and product development, customer education for long sales cycle products, and customer service. I'd like to see you do a show on the value of blog interaction for small to medium businesses not in crisis.

  • 2.Interview with Michael Wiley of GM was very informative. GM's blog for Bob Lutz also got favorable mention in Lucy Kellaway's Business Life column in the 2/28/05 Financial Times...see my commentary on Lucy's points about corporate blogs, at http://lubetkinsotherblog.blogspot.com or in RSS feed at http://lubetkinsotherblog.blogspot.com/atom.xml
